Your Blog, Your Pace: Creating Success That Fits Your Season

Sharing is caring!

After 200 episodes of The Ultimate Blog Podcast, we’re taking a moment to slow down and reflect… and we want you to do the same. If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by blogging, from the endless to-do list, the constant stream of advice, or the pressure to be present on every platform… then this conversation is for you. In our 200th episode, we’re sharing some encouragement and practical reminders about what blogging success really looks like.

Remember Why You Started

When you first began blogging, chances are you did it because you loved writing, sharing helpful content, connecting with others, or teaching what you know. But as time goes on, it’s easy for blogging to turn into one big checklist filled with SEO updates, Pinterest strategies, and social media tasks.

It’s completely normal to feel overwhelmed as an entrepreneur sometimes. But when that happens, pause and reconnect with your why. Ask yourself:

  • What inspired me to start my blog?
  • What do I love most about creating content?
  • What kind of impact do I want to have?

Getting back to your purpose helps you move from “I have to” to “I get to.”

Redefine Blogging Success

It’s easy to measure success by someone else’s standards, whether that’s more traffic, more followers, or more posts per week. But just because somebody’s posting three times a week or they have 10,000 followers doesn’t make them any more successful than you are.

True blogging success looks different for everyone. For some, it’s writing one intentional post per month. For others, it’s maintaining a loyal email list or building community through Instagram.

So instead of chasing someone else’s metrics, ask yourself: What does success look like for you, in this season? Your answer might change over time, and that’s okay!

Simplify What You Can

Overwhelm often comes from two things: trying to do too much at once and not being clear on your priorities. Try simplifying your workflow so you can focus on what actually matters.

Here are a few ideas to make blogging easier and more intentional:

  • Batch your work: Plan three months of blog content at a time so you’re not deciding what to write every week.
  • Create systems: Use templates, content calendars, or automations to cut down on repetitive decisions.
  • Pick one platform to focus on: If Pinterest, Instagram, or Facebook feels overwhelming, choose just one and be consistent.

Give Yourself Permission to Grow at Your Own Pace

Slow growth is still growth, and typically that’s the kind that lasts the longest. There’s no one right way to be a blogger. Your blogging journey will look different depending on your life, your energy, and your priorities.

You might have seasons of full speed and creativity, and other times when you need to pull back. The beauty of blogging is that you’re in control!

You don’t have to white-knuckle your business. You can build a blog that fits your life… one that gives you peace and joy.

So if your blog feels heavy right now, ask yourself some honest questions: What’s draining me? What fills my bucket? What can I let go of? What do I actually want to create?

Dump the Purse

Amy recently listened to an episode of The Business Reboot Podcast on Burnout vs. Misalignment: How to Tell The Difference. She shares an analogy from that episode that resonated with her: imagine your business is a purse. Dump everything out and decide, item by item, what to put back in. What’s still serving you? What’s weighing you down?

You Can Have Both

You probably started your blog for freedom, flexibility, creativity, and connection. Those things are still possible. You don’t have to choose between running a successful blog and enjoying your life. You just have to take the next right step for you.

In this episode, we covered:
