3 Things to Let Go Of to Finally Make Progress With Your Blog

Sharing is caring!

If you’ve been putting in long hours on your blog but still feel stuck, you’re not alone. So many bloggers tell us, “I’m working so hard, but I’m just not seeing the progress I thought I would by now.” But the truth is that sometimes it’s not about doing more. It’s about letting go of the things that are secretly holding you back. When you do, you’ll clear space to actually make progress with your blog.

Today, I’m sharing three things you can release right now to move forward.

3 Things to Let Go Of to Finally Make Progress With Your Blog

1. Let Go of Over-Planning

I get it: planning feels productive. It gives you a sense of control and clarity. But too much planning quickly turns into procrastination.

Maybe you’ve mapped out your next six blog posts, but you haven’t actually written one yet. Sound familiar?

The truth is, clarity doesn’t come from a color-coded content calendar. It comes from hitting publish and putting your content out there. You won’t know what resonates with your audience until your posts are out in the world.

Yes, have a plan because it’s important. But don’t let endless planning keep you from taking action. Even imperfect posts will move your blog forward faster than waiting for the “perfect” time.

2. Let Go of the Need to Learn Everything First

It’s easy to convince yourself you’re “not ready” because you still need to take another course, read another book, or master SEO before you publish.

But honestly, you’ll never feel 100% ready. Blogging (like most things) is something you learn by doing.

Think about it this way: you didn’t learn how to do your job by just sitting in a classroom. You learned by being on the job. Blogging works the same way.

So, instead of waiting until you’ve learned it all, start writing. Publish a post. Grow your email list. Try Pinterest. You can always adjust and improve as you go.

3. Let Go of the Belief That You’re Behind

Somewhere along the way, we start telling ourselves stories like: “I should be further along by now.” “Everyone else has it figured out.” “It’s too late to even start.”

But there’s no timeline in blogging. That’s the beauty of this career! No expiration date. No finish line you have to cross by a certain time.

Your blog is your journey, shaped by your life, your goals, and your unique voice. The only way to fall behind is to stop altogether.

Instead of comparing yourself to other bloggers, celebrate where you are now. Every step forward counts.

Bonus: Let Go of Doing It Alone

Blogging can feel isolating when you’re working from your kitchen table or sneaking in posts late at night. But you don’t have to figure it all out by yourself.

That’s why we created our Ultimate Blog Roadmap community, a place where you can connect with other bloggers who understand exactly what you’re going through. Together, we share encouragement, real strategies, and support to help you finally make progress with your blog.
