What Bloggers Need to Know About 3rd Party Cookies
SHOW NOTES: Episode 136
We are talking all things 3rd party cookies on this episode! In this episode, we have Tiffany Graves and Ben Rodriguez on from Mediavine.
What Are Third-Party Cookies?
Third-party cookies are small data files placed in a user’s browser by websites other than the one they are currently visiting. These cookies track user behavior across different sites, creating detailed profiles that advertisers use to serve targeted ads. For example, if a user browses for shoes on one site, they might see ads for those shoes on unrelated websites later.
What Is First-Party Data?
First-party data is information collected directly from users through interactions on a blogger’s own site. This data is becoming increasingly valuable as it allows content creators to build direct relationships with their audience. Unlike third-party data, first-party data is collected with the user’s consent, making it more privacy-compliant and reliable.
Introducing Mediavine’s Grow Platform
Ben introduces the Grow platform, designed to help bloggers collect first-party data and enhance reader engagement.
Tiffany and Ben emphasize Mediavine’s commitment to advocating for bloggers in the industry. They discuss how Mediavine is actively addressing challenges posed by the transition away from third-party cookies.
We want you to view the changes in the digital advertising landscape as opportunities rather than obstacles. Tiffany and Ben share actionable tips that you can take as a blogger! Tune in to hear more!
