Update Old Content to Grow Your Blog
SHOW NOTES: Episode 120
Welcome back to another episode of The Ultimate Blog Podcast! It’s a solo episode today with me, Jennifer, and I am sharing more about updating old blog content with you on this episode. I advise you to develop a strategy for routinely assessing and enhancing your posts.
Blogging is not a set-it-and-forget-it thing!
Many people think that once a blog post is published, it’s done its job, but the truth is, the blogging is constantly evolving, and so should your content. To keep your blog performing well and driving traffic, it’s so important to revisit and refresh your old posts.
Whether you’re a seasoned blogger or a beginner, having a strategy for regularly reviewing and updating your blog posts is key. I recommend creating a spreadsheet to keep tabs on your content. This should include the URL, post title, targeted keywords, and publication date. This simple tool becomes your roadmap to identifying which posts need a touch-up and when.
When assessing your content, put yourself in your reader’s shoes.
Does your post address user intent? Is it providing value? Remember, your goal is to serve your audience with the most helpful and up-to-date information possible.
When it comes to updating content, you have options.
You might choose to rewrite and republish posts, especially if they require lot of revisions. There are plugins that you can use to help ease the process of updating content.
Maintaining and updating blog content is an ongoing journey. By implementing a strategic approach, you can make sure that your blog continues to thrive and grow!
