What is Content Repurposing?
Think of content repurposing like cooking with leftovers. You make a meal (your blog post), but instead of letting the extra ingredients go to waste, you turn them into something new – like a soup or a sandwich. Your original blog post serves as the foundation, and you can reshape it into different formats for various platforms.
Repurposing One Blog Post into 20+ Pieces of Content
Many bloggers don’t realize how much content they already have. Krystle shared an example of a travel blog post listing five honeymoon destinations. From that single post, she was able to generate at least 26 different pieces of content, including:
- Instagram posts highlighting each destination
- Email newsletters featuring travel tips
- Social media carousels showcasing resorts
- Short-form videos for Instagram Reels or TikTok
By breaking a blog post into smaller, digestible pieces, you extend its reach without doing extra work from scratch.
The 4 Cs of Content Repurposing to Avoid Content Burnout
Krystle shares her 4 Cs framework – a simple and effective way to repurpose your content so it works harder for you.
1. Curate Your Content
The first step is curating, which means gathering content you’ve already created. Look through your social media posts, blog articles, emails, presentations, and even the notes app on your phone. Chances are, you have valuable content that hasn’t been fully utilized.
2. Choose Your Channel
Once you have a pool of content to work with, decide where to repurpose it. Krystle recommends the “Holy Trio” approach:
- Official platform: Your website or blog
- Long-form content: YouTube videos, podcasts, or in-depth social posts
- Email marketing: Nurturing your audience directly in their inbox
You don’t need to be everywhere – just choose a few platforms where your audience is most engaged and repurpose your content strategically.
3. Craft the Message
Repurposing doesn’t mean copying and pasting. The next step is crafting, where you refine the message to fit the new format.
For example, if you’re turning a blog post into an email, you’ll want to simplify and pull out key takeaways. The goal is to make your content bite-sized, digestible, and tailored to each platform.
4. Customize for Impact
Finally, customize your repurposed content for maximum impact. If you’re blogging, optimize for SEO. If it’s a social post, tweak the visuals and formatting. If it’s an email, add a compelling subject line and call-to-action.
Don’t Be Afraid to Repeat Yourself
One of Krystle’s biggest pieces of advice is to be okay with repetition. She gives us permission to repeat ourselves, because people are missing it the first time, and they need to hear things over and over again. Big brands do this all the time – and so can we.
Plus, with social media’s algorithms limiting reach, chances are most of your audience hasn’t even seen your content the first time around. By consistently repeating key messages in your blogs, emails, and social media, you’re not just saving yourself time – you’re building strong brand recognition.
