Important Tips for a Lifestyle Blog
SHOW NOTES: Episode 73
On today’s episode, I talk about how a lifestyle blog is a website that focuses on personal style which can include beauty tips, travel adventures, recipes, and crafting. It covers a wide array of topics that usually correspond with the person who is the blogger and is not just about one solid niche. A lot of lifestyle blogs grow because people connect with that person as an individual and they begin to trust them, which is really important in blogging.
Here are four foundational tips for starting a lifestyle blog:
- Figure out who your ideal reader is. Since your niche is not as defined with a lifestyle blog, knowing who you are talking to is going to be important. It is going to help you narrow down what you are going to be sharing because you’re going to know what those people’s pain points are. If you just stay true to who you are speaking to, and then really get to know your audience and who is actually coming to your site, that is only going to benefit you.
- Narrow your content pillars down to just three to start. Until you know what people really want to know, you’re going to need to build a solid foundation so people understand who you are. When you have those three content pillars, those are going to be your strongest topics that you can write a ton of content on and eventually branch out to other topics.
- Be thoughtful about what you’re sharing. Make sure that you are authentic and that any links you share are something that your audience is actually going to benefit from, or that it’s a solution to a problem that they might be having as well.
- Know what your long term goal is. Sit down and write down your vision and really think about what you want and don’t want from blogging. Dream big and don’t hold yourself back.
Authenticity is first and foremost, the most critical factor when it comes to blogging.
Share what people might be interested in learning about and you’ll have a chance at building a successful lifestyle blog that other people are going to love to read. The work that building a blog entails is not something that you can do overnight and give yourself grace as you go through the learning process.
