How to create a simple logo

Creating a logo doesn’t need to cost a lot of money and it doesn’t need to take a lot of time either. We have some tips on how to create a simple logo for your website quickly!

1. Use Canva to create your design

Canva is a simple and easy to use website that has several logo templates ready to use. You can easily change fonts, colors and elements to personalize your logo and make it your very own.

We like to start with an idea from Canva as an idea to create a new logo that fits exactly what we need for our websites.

2. Use easy to read fonts

We recommend using 1-2 fonts within in your logo. Using one script and one text font adds dimension and character.

Make sure the fonts are easy to read and you will also want to make sure they are easy to read on a mobile device since the majority of traffic will come from mobile.

3. Use contrasting colors

You will want to use colors that are easy to read and compliment each other nicely. If you need color inspiration we love the website Design Seeds to dream up all kinds of color combinations.

4. How to save your design

You will want to save your design as a PNG file with a transparent background.

Regarding size, it is best to look up your theme documentation and see what size it recommends for your theme. We use Restored 316 for our themes and in each theme they have the exact dimensions needed for a logo.

Creating a logo doesn’t need to be expensive or take a ton of time.

If you want to browse different fonts check out Creative Market for some ideas and you should only need the WebFont. You do have to purchase these fonts but if you want something more unique it’s a great option.

Do I need to hire a logo designer?

While logo designers do a great job, we don’t believe it is necessary to hire a logo designer, especially when you are starting out.

You can get great ideas on Canva and Pinterest and use that inspiration to create your own logo at a fraction of the cost, if not free!
