Getting Started With Video on Your Blog with Danielle Wallace
SHOW NOTES: Episode 83
Have you thought about adding video to your blog?
Today, we are joined by Danielle Wallace to talk about all things video for bloggers. Danielle is a former TV news reporter and owner of Chayil Media Publishing, a copywriting and video storytelling strategy business, where she helps online coaches flip facts into sales-driven narratives. She is also the founder of Virtuous Creative, an online magazine for Christian women creatives in business.
On today’s episode, we talk with Danielle about why video is such a powerful tool for bloggers.
She also explains how video creates a deeper sense of connection with your audience and how video can be a tool that can be repurposed in a lot of different ways. We chat about what the process could look like for adding video to a blog which includes brainstorming ideas on what you want to show with video, creating a script if you plan on talking in the video, planning when you will record each video, and making sure you have a good quality device to record with.
Danielle explains the orientation the video should be shot in, why you should use your creative freedom when creating videos, and why it is important to not overthink or over complicate the video process. We also talk about not comparing yourself to what others are doing because you risk losing your own sense of purpose and creative mindset, why it is important to begin your video with something that will draw people in, and what kind of equipment and software you need to create videos.
It is really important to show up as yourself and be authentically you when you create your videos. Your community wants authenticity and don’t be afraid to share your content in ways that are truly genuine.
This was such a great conversation with Danielle and we hope you feel inspired to add video to your blog! We want to hear how this episode helped you! Let’s continue the conversation over on Instagram (@sparkmediaconcepts). We’d love to hear from you!
