Finding Your Target Audience with Erin Trusner Fischer
SHOW NOTES: Episode 72
Do you know who your target audience is?
Today, we are excited to have Erin Trusner, the owner of Trusner Designs, join us to talk about how finding your target audience. Trusner Designs is a full service marketing, branding and graphic design firm. Erin’s specialty is working with small businesses to create stand out, branded imagery that reflects their authentic brand voice and showing them how to thread this throughout their business aesthetic via her e-course suite, Business: Engage.
On today’s episode, Erin shares how she got started with marketing. She shares how she eventually turned Trunser Designs into her full time income, and how her company has evolved over the years. We chat about why it is important and beneficial to find your target audience and how having a niche relates to your target audience. We also chat about making sure your marketing messaging is specific.
We talk about the questions that you can ask as you start to define your target audience. Those questions are:
- WHO are you selling to?
- WHERE are they spending their time?
- WHAT are they struggling with?
- WHY are they struggling?
- WHAT are you selling to them?
- HOW does it help them?
- WHAT does their life look like after they buy from you?
- WHY should they buy from YOU rather than someone else who offers the same thing?
We also talk about the importance of building a connection with your audience. Erin shares why you don’t already need an audience to start the process, and why it is important to realize you can pivot your content if you need to. She shares what you can do if your content is reaching people who aren’t necessarily in your target audience. It’s also ok that some of your audience will come from social media and others come from your email list. We also talk about the importance of knowing if your messaging is actually working. Know that somebody is always paying attention even if they are not engaging with your content. Erin also shares the importance of asking your audience for feedback and opinions on your content.
Staying consistent with your messaging, building connections, and offering value are going to be pillars for success in the blogging world.
If you want to be found, you do have to take some of these tips and put them into action. Know that consistency and a never give up attitude is just part of being an entrepreneur.
